Cheap Dot Com's and Dear Me's? How Come?

Ever wonder why a new Dot-Com domain can be purchased from a registrar for less than eight dollars but the going price for a new Dot-Me is more than twenty dollars? Doesn't it seem logical that the Dot-Com should be more expensive? They are many times more popular: there have been over seventy million Dot-Coms sold and a good deal fewer than a million Dot-Mes. Where is the iron law of supply and demand here?

Aftermarket domain dot-coms have certainly sold for considerably more than aftermarket dot-mes. Love.Me, for instance sold for about thirty-three thousand; insure.me went for almost seventy thousand. That's big bucks to most people but it's chickenfeed considering sex.com's reputed price of fourteen million. Why then does a freshly minted Dot-Com sell at a third the price of a new Dot-Me? I've search all over the net for a satisfying answer and haven't found it.

I know that Dot-Coms originally sold for considerably more. Thirty-five dollars or so. But that was in the good old days. After all, Dot Com was the original domain extension and has been around since the mid eighties; computers cost a lot more then too. An acquaintance compared Dot-Coms to Chevrolet cars: GM sold several million more Chevys than Cadillacs, but the Chevys are still cheaper. True, but I'd bet most of the people buying a Chevrolet wished they could buy a Cadillac. How many people buying Dot-Coms really wanted to buy Dot-Mes? Not many, I should imagine. Who then-or what-is setting the prices.

Competition, of course, is part of the answer. Virtually every registrar sells Dot-Coms. Pricing them above a certain level would insure fewer sales. And once they've got you hooked the price can always go up in preceding years (something to think about when you decide how many years in advance you want to purchase your domain).

Another possibility is that the most accurate analogy here would be to compare domain extensions to jewels rather than automobiles. Diamonds, maybe. The perfect diamonds bring a high price; those with imperfections bring a lot less. The Premium Dot Coms were snatched up a long time ago; what's left has been heavily picked-over. Dot Me, on the other hand, is relatively new and there are a lot of rich words and phrases yet to be claimed. Yes, you can wait and the price will go down, but so will the value of the remaining domains.

Bridging the Communication-Generation Gap

Most people have, at one time or another, picked up their cell phone to receive a text message and had to decipher something like the following...

"R u Cming 2 dnr l8r? C u then!"
Luv K-Man

If it were not for the number displayed on the phone, you may not even know who this "K-Man" person is. Moreover, you are not sure if this person ever received any type of formal education. Like it or not, this is where communication has landed us in the electronic age, where even waiting for the phone to ring is wildly inefficient.

This is a trend we are seeing in the working world as well. In the age of Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and FriendFeed, communication not only needs to be instantaneous but the information must make its way to a vast number of people and be dead-simple to spread the word. Whether it be an important document to share, or a simple "out of office" notice, there is an increasing demand for instant information.

This article is titled Bridging the Communication/Generation Gap because with today's technology, that generation gap is getting fairly wide. There are many different types of workers in the workforce today with different levels of technical competence. If you look closely enough, you may find someone in your company where anything beyond snail mail is witchcraft. Then you have the GenY folks who have grown up with instant messaging, text messaging, Facebook accounts, and all sorts of social media expectations. When attempting to build a work environment that speaks to everyone, there needs to be something that your entire workforce buys into.

Many companies are turning to an intranet to provide that work collaboration tools and to build a corporate culture that is easy for all generations to partake in. Fortune 500 companies are leading the way with innovative social intranets combined with more traditional document management and enterprise tools. Intranets give employees an area where they can share ideas and retrieve corporate information in a quick and easy format. Ease of use must be a key factor when choosing intranet software or building your own intranet. Provide the social experience but in a format the technology-challenged can easily use.

The beauty of a good piece of intranet software is how it can "WOW" both of these groups with the same functionality. Those with less technical savvy can still contribute as long as adding content and documents is as simple as clicking an "add" button. The younger generations will expect this ease of use so that they can jump into action on the site and own their piece of it.

This equates to a fast and effective communication tool that everyone in the company can buy into. If you are looking for a way to improve communication and bridge that gap between generations, an intranet would be a great place to start.

How to Discover Your True and Essential Nature

Discovering your true and essential nature and knowing who you really are is knowing one's self and the ability to fulfill any dream you may have. You are the eternal every lasting possibility, you are the total potential of all that is, and will be, you are the law of Unity.

There is no difference between you and the energy that God/Universe uses to create everything in existence. This field of existence is your own self, the more you experience your true nature, the closer you are to God/Universe the field of pure potentiality.

The Experience of Self is our internal being it is our own spirit, and not the objects of our experience. The other experience that we may have is the Experience of Objects which are outside of our Self, which includes material things, people, situations and circumstances.

In this experience we are always looking for external control, the approval of others, in anticipation of a response from them. This experience is fear based and this kind of power is not the power that we want because this is not real power.

When we experience the power of Self, there is no fear, there is no need to control, and no struggle for external power or approval. The experience of objects starts with our Ego, this is not who you really are, this is your mask for society it is your social mask, your self-image, the role you are playing. The ego craves and thrives off of approval. This mask wants to be in control and is sustained by power, because it lives in fear.

Now your true self, is your spirit, your soul, which is utterly and completely free from all of these things. It is not fearful of any challenge or criticism and it feels beneath no one. And yet, it is humble and feels greater or superior to no one, because it recognizes everyone else is the same Self, the same spirit, the same energy from God/Universe just in different disguises.

Ego based power will only last as long as those objects of reference are there ie... the job title, a lot of money or whatever it is that you are referencing the power to. Once that title, money or reference is gone so is the power.

Self power on the other hand is permanent, because it is based on the knowledge of Self. Self Power also has certain characteristics. It draws people to you, and also draws things that you want to you. Self Power magnetizes people, circumstances, and situations to support your desires.

This is also support from the Laws Of Nature. It is the support of Divinity which comes from being in the state of Grace. Your power is such that you enjoy having a bond with people, and people enjoy a bond with you. Your power is bonding, a bonding that comes from True Love.
